Sterling Dance Theatre Covid19 Safety Protocol

Effective June 15th, 2021

Sterling Dance Theatre will follow all the Santa Clara County health regulations in place at any given time. We will also wipe surfaces regularly and have hand sanitizer available. All students and staff are required to wear masks at this time.  It is not our responsibility to provide masks although we will have some on hand so please be responsible about this. Paper masks are best for dance, but any qualified mask will be acceptable. We will not require temperature checks unless required by the County Health order. Children especially, have widely varied normal body temperature so even with checks, it’s difficult to tell if a child actually has a temperature.  In case we need the information for the future, we will ask every parent to submit their child’s normal body temperature on the new registration form (see Registration Form above), and please let us know of any allergies they may have. We will also have non-contact thermometers on hand if we suspect illness. DO NOT SEND A SICK CHILD TO CLASS even if you think they just have a cold.  They can do make-ups.

1. At this time, if available, we require for our files a copy of your dancer’s Covid19 Vaccination Record card. If your dancer is too young to get the vaccine, please send me a copy when/if they receive it. This helps us determine, at any given time, the risk factors for Covid19 within our student population. All information regarding the vaccine will be kept confidential. For now, all students and staff will be required to wear masks, vaccinated or not. I will update this requirement after we know more about how or if summer travel will affect our area.

2.  For now, parents will be asked to wait with their children outside the studio or in their car until the previous class leaves. Only students and teachers are allowed into the studio. This will reduce risk and keep everyone safer.  As soon as possible we will allow parents back inside, we promise! As each student enters the studio, they will be required to use the hand sanitizer at the entrance.  Please be ready to pick up your child on time and please pick them up at the studio door unless they can see your car from the entrance and are at least age 10.  Also, due to Covid, please do not drop them off early or leave them unattended outside. We will relax these rules as time goes on but for now the less interaction between groups the better.

3.      We know the dancers will be excited to see each other but please ask them to avoid physical contact while at the studio. No hugging, no sharing food or drinks.  All bottled water must have the dancer’s name clearly labeled on it to avoid mistakes.  For now, the waiting room will not be accessible to the dancers so we can monitor them better. Dancers caught with their masks off will be asked to leave. As of June 15th, social distancing will no longer be required.  Please go over these rules with your dancer and impress upon them their importance.
